About Lios
What is Lios?
Lios is an intelligence layer for candidates chasing competitive, structured openings. It finds the roles worth your time, helps you judge them, and manages the whole application window in one place. Less noise, better decisions, less of your life spent on spreadsheets and dead links.
What does “Lios” mean?
Lios comes from Helios, the Greek god of the sun: the one who saw everything, and who revealed what was hidden. That is the job. Light on a process that is usually opaque.
Who is Lios for?
Students, graduates and candidates going after competitive structured entry routes: graduate schemes, internships, spring weeks, apprenticeships, school-leaver routes and postgraduate intakes. Lios is not a general job board and does not try to be.
Who is behind Lios?
Lios is built by Lios Labs Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. It started with someone who understood the points of friction in this market first-hand, and who wanted a tool that acted in the candidate’s interest rather than the employer’s. That is still the whole brief.
Is Lios a recruiter? Do you apply on my behalf?
No. We are not a recruiter, and we never submit anything for you. You apply through the organisation’s own process. Our job is to make that process sharper.
Is Lios affiliated with the organisations it lists?
Lios is an independent platform with no official partnerships with the organisations it lists, and no listed organisation pays to be there. Organisation names and logos appear purely to identify the opportunity you are looking at. The people we answer to are the candidates who use it.
Is Lios free?
Lios is currently free to use. Its AI tools run on tokens, and everyone gets 10,000 tokens a month at no cost. If that changes, we will tell you clearly and in advance.
How does Lios make money?
Right now, we don’t. That is a deliberate choice: we would rather build the product, and the community it serves, before we think about revenue. What we can tell you is what we will never do. No organisation can buy its way up your feed, buy a prestige band, or buy a fit score. Here, you are the customer, not the employer. If we introduce paid services in future, they will be additive and clearly signposted, and anything commercially supported will be labelled as such and kept separate from your curated feed.

Where do the openings come from?
From organisations’ own first-party careers sources, monitored continuously, so what you see reflects what is actually live.
How often is the feed updated?
We check every day. If something has closed, moved or changed, we want it corrected fast, and you can tell us whenever you spot something wrong.
What is the Lios List?
The Lios List is a curated set of organisations that meet our editorial standard. Selection reflects an internal assessment of an organisation’s standing within its sector, including selectivity and the strength of the platform a role provides. We cannot disclose which organisations were considered and not selected, or the specific criteria behind our in-house method. What do Diamond, Platinum, Gold and Silver mean?
They are our prestige bands: how we group organisations by calibre within a sector, reflecting things like selectivity, standing, and the strength of the platform a role gives you. It is guided by our own in-house method, which we do not publish, and it is our editorial view rather than a statement of fact about any organisation. It is not the oracle of truth. Bring your own judgement and your own context.
What does the green leaf mean?
The green leaf marks organisations with a top-rated CDP climate score or B Corp certification. Both are independent, recognised systems, and Lios follows them rather than making its own assessment. A few sectors, such as defence and conventional energy, fall outside the required parameters. The list is reviewed regularly. In Discovery, the Sustainability value shows roles at these organisations, along with roles elsewhere that focus on sustainability. It is also one of the values you can choose in onboarding, where it counts towards your fit score like any other.
Are any listings sponsored or promoted?
Nothing in your Lios feed is there because someone paid for it. Ranking, prestige bands and fit scores cannot be bought. If we ever introduce commercially supported opportunities, they would be clearly labelled and kept separate from your curated feed, so you always know exactly what you are looking at.
Why does Lios show fewer jobs than other sites?
On purpose. Ten relevant openings beat ten thousand irrelevant ones. If you want volume, the big boards have it. We are trying to be right, not big.
An organisation or role I expected isn’t here. Why?
Either it is not currently open, or that organisation is not yet on the Lios List. We expand coverage continuously, and if something is missing we would genuinely like to know: contact@lios.uk.
Will Lios tell me when things open and close?
Yes, inside the app. Lios surfaces what is newly open and keeps your tracked roles and their dates in one place, so the window does not pass you by while you are busy elsewhere. The Tracker’s calendar shows the closing dates of the roles you save or track, where the organisation publishes one, alongside your own dates such as interviews and tests. Calendar sync gives you a private link that Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar subscribes to, and it updates as dates change. Lios does not send alert emails.
What are Guided and Exploring in Discovery?
Two ways into the same live feed. Guided ranks the openings against your onboarding answers and shows a fit score on each; it needs onboarding finished. Exploring shows every live opening with your own filters and no scores, and with no filter or search on it groups the openings by organisation. Open a role and come back, and Discovery is as you left it: the same filters, search and place in the list.
What does the feed learn from me?
In Guided, the feed can learn from the roles you save, track and open, never from what you write, and lift similar roles a little higher. You choose how strongly: Off, Light (the default), Medium or Heavy, from the Feed pill in Discovery or in your Account settings. Every learned term is listed there; you can remove any of them, restore one you removed, or reset the lot. Medium and Heavy learn from browsing too, so they run as Light if browsing cookies are off in your cookie preferences.
What are my weekly matches and the Top Pick?
Each Monday Lios picks a small set of roles for you from the live feed, ranked by fit to your onboarding answers, and the strongest is the Top Pick on your Dashboard. They can also arrive as a pop-up, which you can turn off under Pop-ups in your Account settings. They are a starting point, not a verdict.
How do I see an organisation’s open roles?
Open the organisation on the Lios List. When it has roles open right now, View vacancies takes you straight to them, and the way back returns you to the List. An organisation with no open roles is not closed for good: most hire in cycles.

The tools
What is the fit score?
A measure of how well an opening matches your profile and preferences, guided by our own in-house method, which we do not publish. Treat it as a way to prioritise, not a prediction of whether you will get the offer, and never as a judgement of you as a candidate. It is not the oracle of truth. Your own judgement and context always come first.
Are the profiling tests real, or a personality quiz?
Real. How You Work is built on the Big Five, the most widely used model of personality traits in research, using the 50-item IPIP measure scored against approximate published norms. Career Compass is built on Holland’s RIASEC model of career interests, the framework behind most careers-interest tools. Location Fit is Lios’s own weighted model, ranking career hubs against what you tell us matters. All three are scored by fixed logic rather than AI, so the same answers always give the same result. They are for self-insight and for prioritising what to chase, not a clinical or diagnostic assessment, and not the oracle of truth either.
What is my archetype?
A short way of naming the direction your choices point to: Dealmaker, Strategist, Operator, Builder, Specialist or Explorer. It is worked out from your onboarding answers, mostly the sectors and areas you pick, with the working environment and focus you choose also counting, so it changes when they do. Your Account shows it as Your archetype. It is not a personality test. How you work is what the profiling tests read.
How long does onboarding take?
As long as you like. Quick start is six questions on one page, about 30 seconds, and your feed is ranked from the first visit. Standard onboarding takes about three minutes and ranks it more closely. Advanced onboarding is standard plus the three profiling tests, about twenty minutes. Or look around first and come back to it later. If you used the quick start, Sharpen your feed adds four more questions; standard and advanced onboarding wait in your Account any time.
Do I have to do the assessments?
No. They are optional, you can do one and skip the rest, and you can retake any of them later. They simply sharpen what Lios shows you.
Who are Eos and Selene?
Two assistants on the Assistant page. Eos helps you with Lios itself: ask her how anything in the app works. Selene is your coach: mock interviews, CV and cover letter feedback, practice drills, what to expect at each stage, help choosing a direction, and the application simulator, which takes you through a full application from the CV screen to the decision. You can also chat with her freely about your career, and she can bring up live openings and roles from your Tracker as cards. Selene coaches on what you share with her; she never invents experience, has no inside knowledge of any organisation’s process, and cannot promise an outcome. The Agent writes the draft; Selene coaches you on it.
Where are my Selene sessions, chats and simulator runs kept?
On the device you used, in that browser: your 20 most recent Selene sessions, up to 20 Selene chats, and your finished simulator runs with their reports, each of which you can delete. They are not kept on our servers, so they do not follow you to another device, and clearing your browser removes them.
Does the AI write my applications for me?
The Agent writes the draft; Selene coaches you on it. Both work from your material, not invented claims, and what the Agent produces is a draft for you to own and edit. Your own judgement stays in charge: it is entirely your call how much of the tooling you use, and none of it is required. Never send anything you could not defend in an interview. Used well it sharpens your own evidence. Used lazily it produces something generic, which screeners spot.
What are the games for?
They are inspired by real assessment games and proven cognitive tests, so you can practise the kinds of thinking competitive processes actually put you through, and learn something about how you think. They are practice, not a shortcut.
Can Lios give me career, legal or financial advice?
Lios gives you information, tools, coaching and our own view so you can decide well. It is not regulated advice. For legal, financial, immigration or visa questions in particular, speak to a qualified professional.
Does Lios guarantee I will get a role?
No, and be wary of anything that claims otherwise. We do our utmost to add real value, and we understand that helping you land a role you actually want is the greatest value we could possibly add. We work continuously to build a product that does exactly that. But some things sit entirely outside our control, and the decision is always the organisation’s. So we can never guarantee an offer, and we will never pretend we can.

Tokens
What are tokens?
Tokens are Lios’s own currency for AI. Every time you use a tokenised feature, such as the Agent, Selene or the simulator, the cost of that action is deducted from your token balance. Eos and the page guides are free for your first 20 messages a week. Click the coin ring at the top right of any page for a short guide.
How many tokens do I get?
10,000 every month, free. They refill on the 13th of each month at midnight UK time, back up to 10,000; tokens left over from the month before do not carry over. A new account gets the full 10,000 straight away. Your balance is the meter at the top right of every page.
What does each tool cost?
A cover letter or a CV edit uses 415 tokens. A Selene session uses 250, which covers her first answer and ten follow-ups; mock interviews and practice drills use 50 a question instead, and you choose the length, 3 to 10 questions, before you start, with the summary included. A full application simulator run uses 2,000, taken once when it starts, with every round after that included. A message to Selene in a chat uses 100, or 350 when it brings a document. Eos and the page guides share 20 free messages a week, counted from Monday at midnight UK time; after that the next 10 use 5 tokens each, the 10 after those 25 each, and any more 100 each. Organisation insights, game feedback and reading your files are free. The Agent and Selene show their costs at the top of their pages, and the simulator before a run starts.
What happens if I run out?
If you run out, you will not be able to use tokenised features until you have enough tokens again. Your balance refills automatically on the 13th of every month, and in time you may be able to ‘top up’ mid-cycle. Without any tokens, everything else on Lios keeps working as normal, including your free weekly messages to Eos, the page guides, and any Selene session or simulator run you have already started.
What if something goes wrong?
If an AI tool fails on our side, the tokens it used are returned automatically. If a cover letter or CV edit is not right, Try again, free beside it writes it once more at no cost, within 24 hours.
What is the launch gift?
Every account created by 15 November 2026 gets 5,000 extra tokens as a thank-you for being here early. They last until the end of 12 December 2026. Lios always uses whichever of your tokens run out first.
Can I buy more tokens?
Not yet. It may be possible in the future, and we will tell you clearly and in advance before anything changes.
Will Lios email me about tokens?
Only once a month: a short email on the 13th when your tokens refill, if you have used Lios in the last two months. You can turn it off in your Account settings.

Do you sell my data?
No. Full detail is in our Privacy Notice.
Can employers see my profile, my saved roles or my tracker?
No. Your pipeline is yours, and it is not shared with organisations.
What data do you collect?
What you tell us during onboarding, what you save and track in the app, and basic usage data that helps us improve Lios. Our Privacy Notice sets it out in full.
Will employers see my CV?
No. Nothing you upload is shared with organisations. Your CV is there to power the tools you choose to run, nothing else.
Do you use my data to train AI?
Certain aspects of how the product is used may be used to enhance future user experience and product quality. We do not sell your data, and nothing you upload is shared with organisations. Our Privacy Notice is the definitive statement on how your data is handled.
How do I delete my account and my data?
You can delete your account at any time from the foot of your Account page, or email contact@lios.uk and we will action it for you. Your rights over your data are set out in the Privacy Notice.
6 · Using Lios

Using Lios
Do I need an account?
Yes. Lios is built around your profile, your saved roles and your tracker, so it needs somewhere to keep them.
Can I use Lios on my phone?
You can, and it works. That said, Lios is a working instrument with a lot on screen: the Dashboard, Discovery, the Tracker and its calendar, and the Agent tools are all noticeably better on a laptop or a larger display. Phone for checking in, desktop for doing the work.
Do I need to be at a certain university, or have particular grades?
No. Lios does not filter you by institution, and we cover apprenticeships and school-leaver routes alongside graduate schemes, internships and postgraduate intakes. Individual organisations set their own criteria, and that decision always sits with them.
Which countries does Lios cover?
The feed spans the international openings of every organisation we track, with coverage deepest where those organisations hire most. Anyone is welcome to use Lios, and coverage keeps expanding.
Can I use Lios in dark mode?
Yes. The moon at the top right of every page switches between light and dark, and Appearance in your Account settings does the same. Your choice is kept on that device.
Can Lios contact me on a different email?
Yes. Add a second email in your Account settings, confirm it with the code we send, and choose which of your emails Lios writes to. Signing in and password resets stay with the email you signed up with. If you signed up with a university email, it is worth adding a personal one before you graduate.
What is the difference between saving a role and tracking it?
Saving is a shortlist: something you want to come back to, kept in the Tracker’s Saved set. Tracking starts when you mark a role I’ve applied: it then moves through stages as you interview and hear back, and it is what powers your Dashboard. A saved role that closes moves to Archived five days later and clears 60 days after that, unless you keep it.
How do I sign in?
With the email and password you registered with. Signing up asks for your email and a password, and a six-digit code confirms the email.
What is an ambassador code?
An optional code from a Lios student ambassador, entered when you sign up. Signing up with a code needs your university email, one ending in .ac.uk. It changes nothing about how Lios works for you.
How does calendar sync work?
In the Tracker’s calendar, Sync my calendar gives you a private link to add to Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar. It carries your applications’ dates and the dates you add yourself, and keeps them up to date: usually every few hours, though Google can take up to a day. You can reset the link or turn it off from the same place.
What are the daily challenges and exclusive avatars?
Three small goals each day on your Dashboard: apply to a role, save two, and play a game. Every day you complete counts towards that month’s challenge, and finishing a month unlocks its exclusive avatar, with more for runs of three, six and twelve months in a row: fifteen in all.
What is on the Resources page?
Every weekly read in one place, and the providers Lios recommends, chosen by Lios. Nothing on it changes your feed, your fit scores or the prestige bands.

Something is wrong with a listing, or I have a problem.
Email contact@lios.uk and we will look at it. We would far rather hear about a broken or out-of-date listing than have you waste an application on it.
How do I give feedback or suggest something?
Use Give feedback in your Account settings. We read everything, and a good deal of what is in Lios exists because someone asked for it.
